Holy Week 2022: Holy Saturday
Spend a few moments in silence before God preparing your heart to hear from Him.
6 On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare
a feast of rich food for all peoples,
a banquet of aged wine—
the best of meats and the finest of wines.
7 On this mountain he will destroy
the shroud that enfolds all peoples,
the sheet that covers all nations;
8 he will swallow up death forever.
The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears
from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace
from all the earth.
The Lord has spoken.
9 In that day they will say,
“Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the Lord, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
- Isaiah 25:6-9
19 But your dead will live, Lord;
their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust
wake up and shout for joy—
your dew is like the dew of the morning;
the earth will give birth to her dead.
- Isaiah 26:19
What does Isaiah say God will do with death? What will He do for people from all nations?
Pray using the words Jesus taught us to pray:
9 “This, then, is how you should pray:
“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
- Matthew 6:9-13
Today on Holy Saturday, Christians often reflect on the history of the Gospel throughout Scripture. As you read these passages recounting in broad strokes God’s story of salvation, meditate on His love for you.

The Song of Moses:
”I will sing unto the Lord for He has triumphed gloriously.
The horse and rider are thrown into the sea.
The Lord my God, my strength, my song,
is now become my victory.
The Lord is God, and I will praise Him.”
Isaiah 43:16-21
Isaiah 56:1-8
Ezekiel 36:24-28
Come Thou Long Expected Jesus by Charles Wesley:
”Come, thou long expected Jesus,
born to set thy people free;
from our fears and sins release us,
let us find our rest in thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
hope of all the earth thou art;
dear desire of every nation,
joy of every longing heart.”
Luke 1:46-55
Colossians 1:15-23
King of Kings by Jason Ingram, Brooke Ligertwood, & Scott Ligertwood
In the darkness we were waiting without hope, without light.
Till from heaven You came running; there was mercy in Your eyes.
To fulfill the law and prophets to a virgin came the word.
From a throne of endless glory to a cradle in the dirt.
To reveal the kingdom coming, and to reconcile the lost,
To redeem the whole creation You did not despise the cross.
For even in Your suffering You saw to the other side,
Knowing this was our salvation, Jesus for our sake You died.
Praise the Father! Praise the Son!
Praise the Spirit three in one!
God of glory, majesty!
Praise forever to the King of Kings!
Take some time to journal how God spoke to you through His Word. End with a few minutes of silence anticipating the celebration of the resurrection tomorrow morning.
